Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and located in Boston, MA, this is a high-impact opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of a leading global industrial technology company. As we continue to evolve our portfolio and expand across multiple technologies and end markets, the company faces increasingly complex, cross-enterprise decisions around where to compete, how to allocate capital, and how to drive long-term value creation. The strategy team plays a central role in framing these decisions, developing rigorous, fact-based insights, and supporting executive leadership in setting enterprise priorities. As a member of the strategy team, you will work closely with our CEO, executive leadership team, and leaders across the company's businesses and functions to define, plan, and execute the company's strategic agenda:

  • Future platforms - Seeding the next wave of growth with cost-effective, high-value solutions across multiple end markets, including software, sensing, and compute for emerging intelligent edge AI, plus an expanded portfolio of engineered components for new applications.
  • Current platforms - Driving profitable growth with a differentiated customer value proposition, accelerated traction in adjacent end markets, and by "winning with the winners" to further optimize long-term customer mix.
  • Business foundation - Enhancing talent, processes, and tools to increase competitiveness, enable investment, and manage risk, including improvements in material, manufacturing, and engineering performance and supply chain.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing consulting-style projects on key topics and decisions, working closely with stakeholders in business units and corporate functions - includes structuring the problem, gathering and analyzing data, generating insight, translating into written output, and delivering executive-level readouts.
  • Developing proprietary fact bases and market models around key product segments and technology trends, e.g. ADAS adoption, electric vehicle penetration, transition to software-defined vehicle architectures, growth in robotics and energy storage systems, etc.
  • Conducting detailed financial and operational analysis of customers (e.g. automotive OEMs, A&D primes, etc.) and traditional and emerging competitors (e.g. other automotive tier 1s, semiconductor companies, industrial engineered components providers, etc.).
  • Translating analyses into content for executive leadership and customers meetings (e.g. Board of Directors meetings, investor presentations, customer presentations / pitches, etc.).

Key qualifications

The ideal candidate will be able to combine highly structured and analytical thinking with energy, creativity, and attention to detail to support our management team and businesses. S/he will bring:

  • Strong financial and operational analysis capability, including accessing and evaluating financial statements - leveraging fluency with GAAP / IFRS accounting - and employing tools such as Capital IQ / AlphaSense, sell-side equity research, and other credible data sources.
  • Modeling and valuation expertise, with the ability to independently build detailed, auditable, and well-documented market models (e.g. bottom-up market sizing), three-statement financial models, and valuation models using multiple methodologies, including DCF and trading / transaction comps.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with large datasets and advanced analytical and automation tools, including Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel/VBA.
  • Strong strategic analysis "toolkit," including framing and structuring complex problems, planning work with clear prioritization and proactive "upward management," performing thorough, high quality quantitative and qualitative analyses, and translating insights into polished, c-level slide output.
  • Great energy, tenacity, and resourcefulness, with a passion for "diving deep" to get to the root challenging problems and the creativity to leverage internal and external resources to develop proprietary fact bases vs. relying on third parties.
  • BA/BS in a relevant field and 1-2 years of top-tier consulting experience or comparable, including investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy / development, or similar.

Nice-to-have / preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with automotive and/or industrial end markets, which will provide more familiarity with the company's core business and priority diversification focus areas.
  • Experience with Python, including the ability to read, adapt, and troubleshoot scripts and familiarity with pandas, NumPy, or similar analytics libraries.
  • Business-level fluency in Mandarin, Japanese, German, or Korean given the company's global footprint and customer base.
