Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial operations across the platform. This role will be critical in professionalizing the finance function, supporting an upcoming acquisition integration, and partnering closely with the incoming CFO and leadership team.

The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting, own key systems and process initiatives, and help bridge finance and operations in an inventory-driven distribution environment.

This role is suited for a controller or senior accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is comfortable operating with ambiguity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Lead integration of accounting functions and teams following acquisitions
  • Support ERP implementation and system integrations, including NetSuite rollout and optimization
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including purchasing, receiving, warehousing, and shipping activity
  • Document and standardize accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Manage and develop the accounting team (AP, AR, staff accounting)
  • Assess team structure and workflows and recommend optimization
  • Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, lender and investor reporting, and ad hoc analysis
  • Support analytical and operational finance needs, including inventory trends and working capital
  • Own payroll processing initially and support future payroll integration
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely annual audit completion
  • Identify opportunities to improve close speed, automation, and use of financial systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • CPA is a plus but not required
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience in controller, accounting manager, or senior accounting role in distribution, inventory-based, or light manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading or supporting ERP implementations or major system integrations
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting and procure-to-pay processes
  • Experience managing and developing accounting teams
  • Strong analytical skills supporting operational decision making
  • Comfortable working in a private equity–backed, growth-oriented environment
  • Ability to operate tactically while thinking about process and structure
  • Understanding of transaction-related accounting or prior experience

Systems and Technical Skills

  • ERP implementation experience required
  • NetSuite strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Familiarity with AP automation, expense management, Power BI–like tools, and accounting workflow tools is a plus

Location and Travel

Ideally based in Florida, with preference for candidates able to travel to Fort Myers as needed. Role may be mostly remote with periodic in-person presence depending on location and business needs.

Compensation

Competitive base salary with performance-based bonus potential.

Total compensation expected to be competitive for the market and commensurate with experience.
